Family Sponsorship

There are a number of ways you can apply for a sponsorship visa. The different ways include different family relations which are; Common law partners, parents, and grandparents, children, siblings, nephews, niece and spouses. These programs allow Canadian citizens and PR's to sponsor their respective blood-related relatives to come to Canada. The application fee as well dependents upon the relative of the family you choose from the above category. A common sponsorship application will cost you around CAN $75 whereas for a spouse or common-law partner it costs 550 $CAN and for a family member under 22 the fee is CAN $150 . Therefore, a total of CAN $1,040 for a relative over 22 years and CAN $640 for under 22.

A sponsor must be an adult Canadian citizen or PR over the age of 18. She/he must reside in Canada, and must not be involved in any criminal activity or have failed to pay child support, health care or immigration loans.

The applicant must first be able to prove the nature of the relationship between the sponsor and the sponsored.

For a spouse, the applicant must make sure that they are legally married with all the legal documentation. Common law partners as well must be living together for at least one year to apply for the visa under spouse or common-law partner. The sponsor must be a relative and must sign a sponsorship agreement whether he/she is a son/grandparent or parent. The province of Quebec a special undertaking is required.

The sponsor is also required to provide a financial report to himself and the relative and must be able to prove it to the Canadian government and for at least a time period of 20 years in case of parents and Grandparents. The sponsor also needs to show the medical cover for the sponsored relative for around 1 year and the sponsored person also has to undergo a medical examination with police validation and inquiry.

Therefore, according to different relations, a Canadian PR or citizen can sponsor anyone from anywhere with the help of some well-proved documents and requirements.
